The Labor Code defines 15 official holidays for 2026. Of them 3 fall on a Saturday or Sunday (May 24, September 6), which is slightly unfavorable for workers.
Additionally, there is an opportunity for 5 bridges — days between a holiday and the weekend, where with a little leave you can extend your rest significantly.
A bridge is a working day between two days off — for example, a Friday between Maundy Thursday and the weekend. If you take it as paid leave, you get a long break for a minimum number of days.
When a public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the first working day after it is a day off (art. 154, para. 2 of the Labor Code). For 2026, this applies to May 24 (Sun) and September 6 (Sun) — compensated accordingly on Monday.
Orthodox Easter for 2026 is on April 12 (Sunday). The holidays are:
Good Friday — April 10 · Holy Saturday — April 11 · Easter — April 12 · Easter Monday — April 13.
This is a 4-day break with no need for leave — one of the most convenient ones of the year.
The Christmas period. Christmas Eve (Dec 24) is Thursday, Christmas — Friday and Saturday, the second day of Christmas — Sunday. With 4 days of leave (Monday 21 — Wednesday 23 and Monday 28) you can extend it to 9 days of continuous rest.
249 working days for a full 5-day work week — after subtracting 104 weekend days and 12 public holidays that do not fall on a weekend.
This is a 1 day more than in 2025. due to the distribution of holidays within the week.

Holidays are updated according to the Labor Code and the decisions of the Council of Ministers. When the government announces a change — an added day off or moving a bridge day — we publish the update up to 24 hours.
The calendar is free and ad-free. It is enough that you use it — this tells us that Smetalnik is useful.
And from the published Council of Ministers decisions for the specific year.
If there is a change in working/non-working days — you will know immediately.
